I am a retiree of the Los Angeles Unifed and despite statements in the District's pamphlet this uinsurer refused to cover a CROWN AND THE $25 X-RAY THAT LED TO THE DECISION. You should know that when you call the State Commissioner of insurance they discourage submission of data alledging that the dental carrier gives them all they need.

No wonder they volunteer that address and telephone no. I plan to see an attorney and try to find one who would agree to a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. They appear overdue.

Meanwhile, if you don't pay for coverage directly, ask your employer to find a REAL dental insurance carrier for next year. You deserve to know what is in writing will be the result.

We are getting out of network with them at the end of the year. We have patients who dental health continues to worsen due to their denying much needed crowns.

wow, thanks for all of these comments. I had high option dental.

with Concordia Dental and have been waiting 7 months now for payment for a crown. My dental office and myself have gotten so many excuses for non payment that it nauseates me. one excuse was that periodontal disease was not addressed and I've never had that. another was that the dentist did not submit appropriate documents and they did, but got so frustrated they sent everything they had on me.

I'm now appealing to my states insurance department and starting an appeal with them even though I've been told the case was still open and 2 months ago there was an urgent second review initiated.

they are not following up at all. my job even switched to another dental insurance and they are great!


I call this insurance yesterday and the lady on the phone hang up on me. I am so glad there was a witness,I am a military spouse and I feel so bad about the situation. So sad.


From a dental office manager of 24 years...United Concordia is the worst about denying claims! Almost every crown or deep cleaning is denied.

Even with clear evidence! And they are so back-logged in pre-authorizations, right now, about 9 weeks out! Then they deny the preauthorization until you appeal it. That's what they count on....that you won't take the time to appeal, and willing to wait!


Worst dental insurance company ever! I feel bad for the military dependants that are now having to deal with them again!

They are denying my crown also. I also believe we send in a preauthorization before hand. Why isn't a lawyer on them?

I already had the work done also. This is pure fraudulent in my eyes!
